‘We’re Completely Devastated’: One Direction Release Joint Statement Following Death Of Liam Payne

The former members of One Direction – Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and Zayn Mailk – have issued a joint statement following the death of their bandmate Liam Payne.

The 31-year-old passed away on Wednesday October 16 following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Tributes have poured in from fellow X Factor contestants, celebrities and fans across the globe following the news.

Now, One Direction themselves have addressed the tragic loss.

In a joint statement, they said: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.

“But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.

“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us.

“We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam. – Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry.”

The band met in 2010 after auditioning separately for The X Factor, before being brought together as a band by Simon Cowell. The band went on an indefinite break in 2015, with Liam pursuing a solo career.

Louis Tomlinson has since penned his own personal tribute to his bandmate on Instagram, writing: “His experience from a young age, his perfect pitch, his stage presence, his gift for writing. The list goes on. Thank you for shaping us Liam.

“I want you to know that if Bear ever needs me I will be the Uncle he needs in his life and tell him stories of how amazing his dad was.

“I wish I got a chance to say goodbye and tell you one more time how much I loved you.”

Lewis Capaldi Shares Heartfelt Update On Career Hiatus

Last June, Lewis Capaldi announced that he’d be taking a break from touring as he learned to live with Tourettes and anxiety, following a struggle with parts of his set at Glastonbury.

The much-loved singer received wide support and praise from fans and critics alike and said at the time: “I know I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to take some time out when others can’t and I’d like to thank my amazing family, friends, team, medical professionals and all of you who’ve been so supportive every step of the way through the good times and even more so during this past year when I’ve needed it more than ever.”

Adding, “Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can.”

The “Someone You Loved” singer stayed relatively quiet on social media until New Year’s Eve when he finally gave a long-awaited update on X (formerly Twitter).

Lewis Capaldi health update

In the update, Lewis shared that taking time off has given him time to work with “incredible professionals” that have helped him learn more about Tourettes and how to cope with that and his anxiety issues, adding that he’s noticed a “marked improvement” since he took time off six months ago.

He added that the support that he received was “like nothing I’ve ever experienced” and assures fans that it has made him more excited than ever to return to doing what he loves.

He then went on to discuss his second album “Broken By Desire To Be Heavily Sent” and said, “it’s mind blowing to see the songs on this album still resonating with so many of you despite the fact that I’ve not been out there promoting it or touring, it means the world to me”.

Finally, the artist announced that an extended edition of the album has been released with five extra songs.

When it comes to his touring career, though, Lewis is still taking some time to recuperate. He said, “I’m going to continue to take some time to carry on looking after myself, maybe writing some music and taking a moment to reflect on some of the most incredible years of my life.”

Adding, “I want to make absolutely sure I’m 100% before getting back out there again properly for more shows and doing what I love more than anything!”

People Are Only Just Realising Who Kaiser Chiefs’ Hit Song Ruby Was Actually About

Cast your minds all the way back to 2007 – we were all wearing the tightest skinny jeans we could find, drinking cider in the park and permanently had Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs blasting out of our Sony Ericcson Walkman phones.

However, if you thought lead singer Ricky Wilson was singing about a long lost love, think again.

Former drummer and songwriter for the Leeds group, Nick Hodgson, has shared the true inspiration behind the chart-topper – and it’s safe to say you won’t have predicted this one.

As well as being the group’s first number one single in the UK, Ruby was also about… a dog.

“At the time we didn’t say who Ruby was,” he explained. “But I can tell you now that Ruby was a dog.”

“I played the verse, and I kept playing it round and round, and Ruby walked in and to the room and I just started singing Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Ruby.”

This isn’t actually the first time Hodgson has revealed the truth behind the song’s inspiration. Taking to TikTok, the former Kaiser Chief’s drummer explained: “Ruby was our family dog. When I was writing it Ruby (the dog) walked in. I’m very glad she did.”

Now, where did I put those skin-tight drainpipe trousers…

13 Things You Didn’t Know About Hannah Waddingham, From Showbiz Pals To Weird And Wonderful Roles

From her early days on the West End stage to her Emmy-winning stint as Ted Lasso’s Rebecca to a show-stopping turn as the co-host of this year’s Eurovision ceremony, Hannah Waddingham just keeps going from strength to strength.

With a CV that includes everything from hit musicals to a brief but unforgettable role in HBO’s Game Of Thrones and even a season of ITV’s Benidorm, the multi-talented (and multilingual) Hannah surely has one of the most fascinating CVs in entertainment right now.

We’ve taken a look back at her career – and her life off-screen – to bring you some unexpected facts about the star…

1. She got her start in dinner theatre

One of Hannah’s first roles came at the dinner show Joni And Gina’s Wedding, where audience members are invited to interact with the cast.

Before the audition (for a role described as an “overgrown Barbie doll”), she had been toying with the idea of quitting performing, she later told Esquire. “I was like, ‘if I don’t get this, I think I should just give up,’” she said. She decided to enter the tryout doing an American accent “from the minute I walked in the door” – and was offered the job “on the spot”.

The role was a gamechanger for Hannah, who ended up landing West End roles in shows like Spamalot and Kiss Me Kate afterwards.

2. Hannah kept the Game Of Thrones ‘shame bell’ as a goodbye gift

When Hannah played nun Septa Unella in HBO’s fantasy series, one of her most memorable scenes saw her accompanying a naked Cersei Lannister (played by Lena Headey) through the streets of King’s Landing, clanging a bell and shouting “shame”.

When her time on the show was over, the Game of Thrones team gave her that prop as a keepsake.

“It’s common knowledge that if a show gives you a hero prop, it means your character is truly, really dead,” she told InStyle.”So when [producers] David Benioff and Dan Weiss made a ceremony, and handed it to me on my final scene, I was a little disappointed!”

3. Ted Lasso isn’t Hannah’s first football-related role

Long before Ted Lasso, Hannah had a brief role in Footballers’ Wives, the legendary ITV drama which chronicled the wild exploits at the fictional football club Earls Park, back in 2005. Appearing in just one episode, she played a tennis pro called Jools, the latest love interest for club boss Hazel Bailey.

“I’m going to go out there and say that [Ted Lasso] is 150,000% better,” Hannah said in an interview with AV Club – but we reckon that it’s possible to embrace the merits of both shows. After all, did Ted Lasso have a scene where a WAG’s fake boobs caught fire? Or a Sleeping Beauty-themed wedding, with noted Christmas song Walking In The Air as a musical accompaniment? Thought not.

4. She released a single back in 2000

At the start of the millennium, Hannah starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber and Ben Elton’s West End musical The Beautiful Game, which is set during the Troubles in Belfast in the late 60s, and centres around a group of teenagers in a local football team. She played Christine, the girlfriend of the team’s only Protestant member, Del, and performed the track Our Kind Of Love, which she later released as a single (under the mononym ‘Hannah’).

It eventually reached number 41 in the UK charts – and Lloyd Webber would later recycle the same tune for the song Love Never Dies in the sequel to Phantom Of The Opera.

5. She has a four octave vocal range

Though she has never had formal singing lessons, Hannah’s vocal range is staggering (for comparison, the standard woman’s range spans between two and three octaves).

6. She credits her musical theatre work ethic as the secret to her success

Although her screen roles may have caused her profile to skyrocket, Hannah maintains that “musical theatre has changed my life the most”, thanks to the sheer discipline required to sing, dance and act to a packed auditorium every night.

“The physical dedication I’ve had to build doing musicals – I couldn’t do Ted Lasso or Hocus Pocus [2] without it,” she told InStyle. “Mentally and physically, the stamina and agility you need to keep up with [Jason] Sudeikis and his SNL style of, you know, giving you things in 12 seconds while there’s a camera in your face?… I’ve had to keep my mind and body really strong, and in ‘musical theatre shape’, because it’s so much a tool of my craft.”

7. She’s played the Devil… in a Rod Stewart jukebox musical

Hannah’s CV is nothing but varied. In 2003, she played Satan in the stage musical Tonight’s The Night, belting out various Rod Stewart hits while wearing a black PVC catsuit and a belt embellished with the word ‘Wicked’.

The bizarre plot saw a shy young man make a pact with the devil, giving him the courage to ask out his crush… in exchange for eternal damnation.

8. She’s pals with Michael Bublé
