The two began working together in the first Harry Potter film, in which Daniel made his debut as a child actor playing the title character, while Alan portrayed Potions professor Severus Snape.

In a new interview with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Daniel admitted to being initially “so intimidated” by the late Die Hard actor when they first began working together.
“How can you not be by that voice?” he said. “Even hearing that voice, you forget quite how low it was until it echoes through you.
“I was so intimidated by him for the first three movies. I was terrified by him and was like, ‘This guy hates me’.”

As time went on, the pair eventually became close, particularly after Alan noticed Daniel’s work ethic.
“Somewhere along the lines he saw that I really wanted to do this and work at it,” Daniel said.
“He cut short a vacation in Canada to come and see me in Equus. He saw every piece of stage work I did when he was alive. He would take me out afterwards and we would talk about it.”
Daniel added: “He was one of the first people to say like, ‘You should look at voice coaching and investigate all this stuff’.”
After being played a clip from 2016 in which Alan sang his praises, Daniel said: “I am so lucky. To hear him say that is really lovely. Thank you for showing me that.”

In the clip in question Alan was heard saying: “As much as I was doing it for seven weeks, they were doing it for 52 weeks. This was their life from 12 to 22.
“And you would watch it from the sidelines at times and throw the odd lifeline in because there was so little time for that.”
The Love Actually actor added that he felt “huge pride” watching Daniel in the Broadway musical How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying.
“How dare he be dancing as well as the New York dancers,” he joked. “He worked at it.”
Rebecca Ferguson says some of her former co-stars were left on edge after she went viral for revealing that an unnamed actor once brought her to tears after they “screamed” at her during filming.
In a new interview released on Sunday, the Dune star said that when she came forward about the incident earlier this year, she was “not expecting” her peers in the industry to take the news the way they did.
“I’ve got phone calls from amazing co-stars who I’ve worked with going, ‘You understand what you’ve done, right?’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God. No, I didn’t think,’” Rebecca said on The Jess Cagle Show.
“I mean, it’s not my responsibility, to be honest. I don’t really care. You know, ‘You’re great, but my story is my story, and if you’re a good person, then don’t worry about it,’” she added.
While the Mission: Impossible star noted that she “enjoyed the grab” of speaking out about the experience, she explained that she had much deeper reasons for opening up about the incident.
“The point of the interview wasn’t about finding the person — of course, people will be interested,” Rebecca said.
“But what I was excited about the question, which was a very good question by [podcaster Josh Smith]. Because the point was: Is there a point in your career where you were treated in a way where you changed your decision on — this is how I formulated it in myself — where you want change, or you will not accept it? And it was such a clear moment for me working with this person.”
In her original comments, Rebecca revealed that “an absolute idiot of a co-star” had screamed at her while they were filming an undisclosed movie.
“I remember there was a moment, and this human being was being so insecure and angry because this person couldn’t get the scenes out. And I think I was so vulnerable and uncomfortable that I got screamed at,” she said during an appearance on the Reign With Josh Smith podcast back in February.
Though Rebcca didn’t name the bad-tempered actor, she previously confirmed that it was not her 2021 Reminiscence co-star, Hugh Jackman, nor was it her Mission: Impossible colleague, Tom Cruise.
Her 2014 Hercules co-star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, also ruled himself out on social media after voicing his support for Ferguson back in February.

Rebel Wilson has reflected on her past work with Sacha Baron Cohen, which she has described as the “worst professional experience of my career”.
Last month, the Pitch Perfect star made headlines when she posted a video on Instagram, in which she referred to an undisclosed former co-star who she’d written about in her upcoming memoir Rebel Rising.
“I worked with a massive asshole, and yeah, now I definitely have a ‘no assholes’ policy,” she explained. “The chapter on said asshole is chapter 23. That guy was a massive asshole.”
In a follow-up Instagram story post shared a few days later, Rebel told her followers: “I will not be bullied or silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers. The ‘asshole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.”
At the time, a spokesperson for Sacha – who worked with Rebel in the 2016 film Grimsby – told HuffPost UK: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production…”

Rebel reflected further on her work with Sacha in an interview with the Sunday Times published over the weekend.
“It’s one thing for someone who is fat to exploit their size for comedy, but it’s another for somebody else to humiliate you,” the Australian star claimed, saying she felt “disrespected” on set, particularly due to her character’s revealing outfits, but didn’t want to speak out in case she were to be labelled a “troublemaker”.
Rebel said she felt “like I was something to be laughed at and degraded because of my size”, noting her character was “demeaned” in certain scenes.
According to the Times, Rebel later returned to sets for reshoots, to which she recalled: “The fact that I then went back… I felt ashamed of myself. Why do I have such low self-worth?”

In her book, the Times quotes her as saying: “I’m sharing my story now because the more women talk about things like this, hopefully the less it happens. And hopefully fewer women have to work harder just to respect themselves.”
The newspaper also writes that the Borat creator “refutes [Rebel’s] claims about her experiences on the set of Grimsby”.
Sacha Baron Cohen’s team reiterated his original statement when contacted for comment by HuffPost UK.
Rebel previously opened up about her working relationship with the Borat creator during a 2014 radio interview with KIIS FM.

“Sacha is so outrageous,” she said a decade ago, as reported by Australia’s Courier Mail outlet.
“Every single day he’s like, ‘Rebel, can you just go naked in this scene?’ And I’m like, ‘No!’.
“Sacha and I have the same agent in America and I’m like, ‘Sacha, I’m going to call our agent Sharon and tell her how much you are harassing me’.
“Every day he’s like, ’Just go naked, it will be funny. Remember in Borat when I did that naked scene? It was hilarious’.”
She continued: “On the last day I thought I’d obviously won the argument and he got a body double to do the naked scene.
“Then in the last scene … he was like, ‘Rebel can you just stick your finger up my butt?’ And I went, ‘What do you mean Sacha? That’s not in the script.’ “And he’s like, ‘Look, I’ll just pull down my pants, you just stick your finger up my butt, it’ll be a really funny bit’.”
Rebel concluded: “You don’t wanna be a diva so I [said] I’ll slap you once on the butt and that’s it.”

Shakira would’ve liked to have seen a bit more “Kenergy” in the 2023 blockbuster Barbie.
In an interview with Allure published on Monday, the Colombian pop singer shared her less-than-glowing take on Greta Gerwig’s acclaimed movie, which starred Margot Robbie in the title role.
“My sons absolutely hated it. They felt that it was emasculating,” she said, referring to her sons, 11-year-old Milan and nine-year-old Sasha, whom she shares with her ex-boyfriend, Gerard Piqué. “And I agree, to a certain extent.”
The three-time Grammy winner said she wanted her sons “to feel powerful too” while “respecting women,” something she felt Barbie didn’t adequately portray.
“I like pop culture when it attempts to empower women without robbing men of their possibility to be men, to also protect and provide,” Shakira said.
“I believe in giving women all the tools and the trust that we can do it all without losing our essence, without losing our femininity.
“I think that men have a purpose in society and women have another purpose as well. We complement each other, and that complement should not be lost.”
“Just because a woman can do it all doesn’t mean she should?” journalist Patricia Alfonso Tortolani asked on social media in response, with Shakira replying: “Why not share the load with people who deserve to carry it, who have a duty to carry it as well?”
Released in July last year, Barbie debuted to praise from critics and was a tremendous hit, raking in over $1 billion at the box office worldwide.
The movie also garnered a total of eight Academy Award nominations, including acting nods for Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera.
Despite the accolades Barbie received, a number of dissenting voices did emerge. Among those was director Oliver Stone, who criticised Ryan Gosling for not focusing on “more serious films”.

“Ryan Gosling is wasting his time if he’s doing that shit for money,” he told City A.M. in June last year. “He shouldn’t be a part of this infantilisation of Hollywood.
“Now it’s all fantasy, fantasy, fantasy, including all the war pictures: fantasy, fantasy.”
When Deadline reprinted some of his City A.M. interview in January, the Natural Born Killers director clarified that his remarks on Barbie were made before he’d had a chance to view the movie in its entirety.
“I was able to see Barbie in July and appreciated the film for its originality and its themes,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I found the filmmakers’ approach certainly different than what I expected. I apologise for speaking ignorantly.”
A new month means a whole load of new films, TV shows, documentaries and more to sink our teeth into over on Netflix.
In the coming weeks, the streaming service will be treating us to big-budget sci-fi, intriguing gritty dramas, slick and star-studded miniseries and what’s sure to be one of the year’s most talked-about original films.

Tell me more: Undoubtedly one of Netflix’s most eagerly-awaited originals of this year (especially here in the UK), Scoop dives into the story behind Prince Andrew’s infamous 2019 interview on Newsnight, exploring both the events leading up to the jaw-dropping broadcast, as well as its aftermath.
Netflix says: “Inspired by real events, Scoop is the inside account of the tenacious journalism that landed an earth-shattering interview – Prince Andrew’s infamous BBC Newsnight appearance.

“From the tension of producer Sam McAlister’s high stakes negotiations with Buckingham Palace, all the way to Emily Maitlis’ jaw dropping, forensic showdown with the Prince, Scoop takes us inside the story, with the women who would stop at nothing to get it. To get an interview this big, you have to be bold.”

Tell me more: A quick glance at Letterboxd and Rotten Tomatoes suggests the first instalment of Justice League director Zack Snyder’s “space opera” Rebel Moon was a little on the divisive side. Still, for those who did enjoy the first instalment, part two looks to be just as action-packed.

Netflix says: “Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver continues the epic saga of Kora and the surviving warriors as they prepare to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of Veldt, to defend a once peaceful village, a newfound homeland for those who have lost their own in the fight against the Motherworld.
“On the eve of their battle the warriors must face the truths of their own pasts, each revealing why they fight. As the full force of the Realm bears down on the burgeoning rebellion, unbreakable bonds are forged, heroes emerge, and legends are made.”
Tell me more: One of a handful of new comedy specials coming to Netflix in April, Autistic Bikini Queen sees Scottish comic Fern Brady putting her spin on all kinds of heavy themes in her own inimitable style.
Netflix says: “Known for being totally unique and completely fearless, her caustic wit, exceptional writing and electric stagecraft have made Fern one of the UK’s hottest comedy stars. In this special, she’ll be tackling big issues such as death, shagging, marriage and ageing.

“In her typically honest and authentic way Fern is never scared to speak her mind. This show is the culmination of nearly two years of rumination.”
If you’re done with Guy Ritchie’s hit Netflix series The Gentlemen, you might be curious to browse through some more of the British director’s back catalogue.
Known for his brutal gangster films with swaggering protagonists, violent action sequences and rapid dialogue, his signature style can be found all throughout his filmography.

Thankfully for fans of the new eight-part series – which itself takes place in the same universe as his 2019 film of the same name – there’s plenty more where that came from.

Two plots interlink in the director’s career-defining 2000 caper, which serves as something of a spiritual sequel to Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels in style and substance.
One plotline centres around a stolen 86 carat diamond, and the other a dodgy boxing promoter who finds himself indebted to a local crime boss.
Starring Guy Ritchie mainstay Jason Statham alongside Brad Pitt and Benicio Del Toro, Snatch is often praised as one of the director’s best films, with an enviable 93% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Jason Statham once again reunited with Guy as gambler Jake Green, who serves seven-years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Upon his release, he defeats Dorothy Macha in a casino game which wages a war to settle scores.
While it was one of the director’s critical duds, it’s still full of all the Guy Ritchie hallmarks.

When a Russian mobster orchestrates a crooked land deal, millions of dollars are up for grabs, and all of London’s criminal underworld wants in on the action. Everyone from a dangerous crime lord to a sexy accountant, a corrupt politician and down-on-their-luck petty thieves conspire, collude and collide with one another in an effort to get rich quick.Gerard Butler (300,) stars as One Two, a street-smart mobster who has learned to play both sides of the fence. Two-time Oscar nominee Tom Wilkinson (Michael Clayton) stars as the ruthless head mobster, Lenny Cole, part of London’s old mob regime, which is quickly losing ground to the wealthier foreign mob. Guy Ritchie might not have seemed like the most obvious choice to adapt Arthur Conan Doyle’s famous detective stories for the big screen, but this 2009 mystery adventure starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law was well received by audiences.
It placed second at the US box office to Avatar and became Guy’s biggest commercial success at the time – which was enough to spawn a 2011 sequel called A Game Of Shadows.

The four-day Easter weekend is a high-point of the year, allowing us to get out in the world, catch up with friends we haven’t seen in a while or maybe even take a little trip to make the most out of all that time off.
For some of us, that is. For others, it’s the chance to catch up on some much-needed rest, spending all that extra time in the most low-key way possible.
If you fall into the latter camp, it’s understandable that you might find yourself at a bit of a loose end when it comes to passing the time. Or, of course, it could be that you have children to keep occupied for that loooong Bank Holiday weekend.
Either way, it could come as a relief to hear that there are plenty of classic films worth tuning in for on TV between Good Friday and Easter Monday. Here are 20 of our personal highlights…

Films that feature sex scenes and nudity are due to have age ratings tightened to align with changing public opinion.
The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) said that the guidelines for films rated 12A or 12 will be stricter going forward. It comes after the board surveyed 12,000 people as part of its largest-ever public consultation.
“People are calling for a more cautious approach to classifying sex scenes at the border of 12A/12 and 15,” the BBFC shared on its website. Participants were concerned by “the level of sexual detail, nudity and the duration of the sex scenes rated 12A/12” under the guidelines of previous research in 2019. Similar content is now more likely to be rated as a 15.
The board also said higher ratings might be necessary for films that include language with sexual or misogynistic connotations, like “son of a bitch”, “bitch” or “dick”. “The worry is that young viewers may hear and repeat such language. Language such as this may now require a higher age rating,” the BBFC shared.
A total of 33 full-length feature films, 28 trailers and 151 clips from films and TV of varying genres were shown as part of the research.
However, findings did indicate that audiences were happy for classification to be “more lenient towards some sex references at the 15/18 borderline, especially in comic contexts”.

The research also revealed that people are now “slightly more accepting of cannabis misuse” at the 12A/12 rating, so long as it is “not detailed, glamorised or frequent”.
Additionally, respondents were found to be more comfortable with a relaxing of standards in 12A/12 trailers, meaning some may now include an “isolated use of strong language”.
BBFC president Natasha Kaplinsky said in a statement: “At the BBFC, we’re dedicated to ensuring what we do is responsive to the ever-evolving world around us. Since we last asked people across the country what they thought about our standards, society has changed, and opinions have followed – it’s fascinating how this vast body of new research reflects this. “This is the first Classification Guidelines update I have overseen as President. Not only am I proud and thrilled to launch these findings, but as someone who has always looked to the BBFC for guidance for myself and my family, seeing first-hand the level of dedication and insight that went into this process has been eye-opening and inspiring. Without a doubt, we are truly shaped by you.
Every year, the Oscars ceremony features some of our favourite film stars, directors, writers and even musicians accepting one of the most prestigious cinema awards there is in front of their peers.
Here are 24 of the living Hollywood stars who, surprisingly, still have an Oscar-shaped space on their mantelpiece (including a few of this year’s big contenders)…
Amy Adams
Considered by many to be “the new Leonardo DiCaprio” when it comes to the Oscars, Amy Adams has been nominated for six Academy Awards, most recently in 2019, only to leave empty-handed every year.
The good news for Amy is that Leo got his win on his sixth nomination, so if she really is following in his footsteps, she shouldn’t have to wait too much longer.

Glenn Close
Glenn Close holds the dubious distinction of being the living actor who has the most Oscar nominations without a win.
As of 2024, the esteemed performer has been nominated for an Academy Award a whopping eight times, but has never come out on top.
Her most recent nomination came in 2021, with a nod in the Best Supporting Actress category for her performance in the divisive Netflix offering Hillbilly Elegy – a role that also landed the Fatal Attraction star a Razzie nomination for Worst Supporting Actress.
Samuel L Jackson
Advertisement
Despite over 50 years (!!!) in the entertainment industry, Samuel L Jackson has landed just one Oscar nomination in his career.
Back in 1994, he was on the Best Supporting Actor shortlist for playing Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction. He lost out to Martin Landau on the night, and hasn’t been nominated again since.
However, it’s worth pointing out that he did win an Honorary Academy Award in 2021, after being recognised as a “cultural icon whose dynamic work has resonated across genres and generations and audiences worldwide”.
Bradley Cooper
Between acting, directing, producing and screenwriting, Bradley Cooper has scored a whopping 12 nominations – including two at the upcoming ceremony for his work on Maestro.

When it comes to acting, he’s been recognised for his performances in American Hustle, American Sniper, A Star Is Born and, most recently, Maestro, for which he’s also up for Best Original Screenplay.
Scarlett Johansson
Lost In Translation star Scarlett Johansson is similarly yet to be awarded by the Motion Picture Academy, although she does have two Oscar nominations to her name – both of which came in the same year.
In 2020, Scarlett was nominated in both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories for her roles in Marriage Story and Jojo Rabbit, but was pipped to the win by Renée Zellweger and Laura Dern, respectively.
Angela Bassett
Advertisement
As if the fact Angela Bassett has never won an Oscar isn’t galling enough – she’d actually only been nominated once before 2023.
Angela’s sole nomination came in 1993, following her portrayal of Tina Turner in the biopic What’s Love Got To Do With It?.
Thirty years later, she made history when she became the first star to receive an Oscar nomination for a performance in a Marvel film. Sadly, though, this resulted in a second loss.
Jake Gyllenhaal
Jake Gyllenhaal is another A-list actor we’re surprised to hear has been given only a small amount of love by the Oscars.
In fact, it’s been over 15 years since Jake last bagged an Academy Award nomination, earning his first and only nod for his supporting role in Brokeback Mountain.
David Oyelowo
The Oscars’ lack of recognition for David Oyelowo’s performance as Martin Luther King Jr Selma is one of the biggest snubs in recent history, sparking a major backlash at the time.
Despite a number of critically-acclaimed performances to his name, the British star is yet to be nominated for an Academy Award. Seriously, Oscars. Sort. It. Out.
Toni Collette
Advertisement
Off the top of our head, we can probably come up with six or seven Toni Collette performances that would have been deserving an Oscar win – and yet, the Australian star has just one nomination under her belt (for The Sixth Sense, if you’re wondering).
As one of the most versatile actors in the game, we’re confident that Toni’s time is coming… and when it does, it will be long overdue.
Sir Ian McKellen
He might have Oliviers coming out of his ears (seven in total), but Sir Ian McKellen is yet to be awarded the biggest honour in the film industry.
Sir Ian does have two Oscar nominations, but neither of them translated to a win. He hasn’t fared any better on his home soil, either, with neither of his four previous Bafta nominations resulting in him taking home an award.

Beyoncé
Roles in acclaimed films like Dreamgirls and Cadillac Records led many fans to think that Beyoncé was setting her sights on Oscars glory.
Although neither ended in so much as a nomination, when she signed up to voice Nala in The Lion King (contributing a new song to the beloved soundtrack), it was thought she might get her win in the form of a Best Original Song victory. Sadly, this didn’t end up landing her a nomination, either.
In 2022, she finally landed her first ever nomination for her contribution to the King Richard soundtrack, although the award went to Billie Eilish for her James Bond theme No Time To Die.

Dolly Parton
Like many musicians before her, Dolly Parton has made the transition into acting with roles in films like The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Steel Magnolias and, of course, 9 To 5.
While the Academy never recognised Dolly’s acting (the Golden Globes did, though!), she does have two Best Original Song nominations to her name.
In recent years, Dolly has continued contributing new music to films like Dumplin’ and the Netflix festive film Christmas On The Square, though, so a win could well be on the horizon if she keeps it up.
Sir Kenneth Branagh
Advertisement
One of Britain’s most highly-regarded exports, Sir Kenneth Branagh has received five Academy Award nominations for his acting, writing and directing.
Sadly, the gold statuette has alluded the multi-talented star each time.
Michelle Williams
Since 2006, Michelle Williams has earned Oscar nominations for her performances in Brokeback Mountain, Blue Valentine, My Week With Marilyn, Manchester By The Sea and, more recently, The Fabelmans.
In 2019, she did win an Emmy on her first nomination for Fosse/Verdon, so we reckon it won’t be long until the Academy catches up.
Michelle Pfeiffer
Advertisement
In a career spanning more than three decades, Michelle Pfeiffer has been nominated for an Oscar on three different occasions, but so far, the Academy Award has always eluded her.
Sadly, none of these nominations were for Grease 2, which we can only describe as a huge oversight.
Tom Cruise
Tom Cruise has been nominated for three Oscars over the course of his career (although it has been more than two decades since his last nod), but he’s never come out on top in his category.
In 2023, there was speculation he could pick up a fourth acting nomination for his role in the Top Gear sequel Maverick. While this didn’t materalise in the end, the film itself was recognised in the Best Picture category, meaning Tom is technically now a four-time nominee thanks to his producing role on the film.
Christopher Nolan

While many of his films have received Oscars over the years, 2018 marked Christopher Nolan’s first ever Best Director nomination, thanks to Dunkirk.
He lost out to Guillermo Del Toro for The Shape Of Water, marking the Mexican filmmaker’s first time receiving an Academy Award.
It’s looking like 2024 could well be his year, though, after Oppenheimer triumphed throughout awards season.
Sigourney Weaver
Sigourney Weaver has racked up three nominations over the years but sadly, the win has eluded her each time.

At the 1989 ceremony, she was up for both the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress prizes, but lost out to Jodie Foster and Geena Davis, respectively.
Michael Keaton
“Is this the year Michael Keaton finally wins his Oscar?” Vanity Fair asked, hopefully, in 2016.
Sadly, it was not and, in fact, he didn’t even score a nomination for the movie sparking the question, The Founder.
His 2014 nomination, earned for his star turn in Birdman, remains Michael’s only Oscar-nominated role.
Annette Bening
Advertisement
Annette Bening’s performances in The Kids Are Alright, Being Julia, American Beauty and The Grifters have all made the Academy’s shortlist – but she was pipped to the post each time.
In 2024, she was a somewhat surprising inclusion on the Best Actress shortlist, where she’s facing stiff competition from Lily Gladstone, Emma Stone, Sandra Hüller and Carey Mulligan.
Still, she’s continuing to win praise for recent films like 20th Century Women, Film Stars Don’t Die In Liverpool and The Report, so even if she doesn’t manage it this year, a future Oscar win is definitely not out of the question for Annette.
Helena Bonham Carter
The British star is known for her quirky and offbeat roles, but despite Helena Bonham Carter’s bold choices when it comes to acting, the Academy is yet to reward her efforts with a win.
She does have two nominations, though, for The Wings Of The Dove and The King’s Speech.
Hugh Jackman
In recent years, Hugh Jackman has been at the centre of Oscar buzz for films like The Front Runner, Bad Education and even The Greatest Showman, although none of them led to an actual nomination.
The Australian star did receive a nod back once, though, following his leading performance in Les Misérables in 2013.
Taraji P Henson
Are we ever going to get over the total snub that happened in 2017, when Taraji P Henson was missing from the Best Actress category?
Probably not, no.
The Hidden Figures star does one have Oscar nomination under her belt, thanks to her role in The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.
Diane Warren
For those not familiar with Diane Warren, she’s the songwriter behind hit movie soundtrack tunes like Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now, There You’ll Be and I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.
Remarkably, she’s now been nominated for an Oscar 15 times without a win – and true to form, she’s in the running in 2024, so this could well be her year.
John does have two Oscar nominations of his own, one for Saturday Night Fever and a second for Pulp Fiction, although neither ended up in a win for him.
But while he may not have any trophies to show for it, we’d still argue no one has won at the Oscars more times than Mr Travolta…
An uncomfortable clip of Andrew Scott being interviewed about Barry Keoghan’s Saltburn nude scene on the Baftas red carpet has been met with criticism on social media.
On Sunday night, the Fleabag star was a guest at this year’s Baftas, where his latest movie All Of Us Strangers was nominated for six awards, including Outstanding British Film and an acting nod for co-star Paul Mescal.

As he made his way into the event, Andrew spoke briefly to the BBC, where things took an awkward turn after he was asked about his friendship with Saltburn star and fellow Irish performer Barry Keoghan.
“I know Barry, yeah!” Andrew said when asked about the Saltburn star, prompting the BBC’s reporter to immediately ask for his “reaction when you first saw the naked dance scene at the end of Saltburn”.
After attempting to brush off the question, the BBC’s red carpet reporter then continued: “There is a lot of talk about prosthetics. How well do you know him?”

At that point, Andrew tried to laugh off the question before walking on to speak to another journalist on the red carpet.
However, when a clip of the exchange began doing the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), racking up almost 100,000 views in just a few hours, many users took issue with the BBC’s dubious line of questioning:
What the actual F? What ridiculous questioning. Andrew has his own film nominated, ask him about that!! Disgusting
— Margaret and ( very occasionally) Gary Whipp (@WhippGary) February 18, 2024
This is frankly disgusting. Andrew Scott is there to support his multiple nominated film and THIS is what you ask? Then when he looks visibly uncomfortable the guy carried on. Truly horrid. #BAFTAspic.twitter.com/42VEoBXRQi
During the ceremony, Andrew and his fellow All Of Us Strangers actor Paul Mescal presented the award for Best Animated Feature to the latest offering from Studio Ghibli, The Boy And The Heron.
