Eamonn Holmes Breaks Silence On This Morning Exit As He Claims He Hasn’t Yet Heard From Phillip And Holly

Eamonn Holmes has finally addressed his exit from This Morning after his 15-year presenting stint, and claimed he is still to hear from the show’s two main hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

Last month, Eamonn confirmed reports that he was leaving ITV to join GB News, where he began hosting the start-up channel’s breakfast show on Monday.

His exit from This Morning came after he and wife Ruth Langsford had their regular Friday slot on the show handed to Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary last January, leaving the married couple as just holiday cover for Phillip and Holly.

In an interview with The Sun, Eamonn hinted at his unrest about the changes as he spoke of his new GB News role.

“Put it this way, I’m looking forward to a move somewhere new where they’re pleased to have me,” he said. “But I wish everyone well at ITV.

“When I went in to meet the GB News team for the first time recently the guys actually clapped as I came in. It was very moving, and felt lovely.”

Eamonn went on to add that despite receiving messages of good wishes from some of his breakfast show rivals, he hasn’t heard from former co-stars Phil and Holly.

He said: “Piers Morgan was the first to drop me a note and congratulate me, so did Susanna Reid, and I know Dan Walker on BBC Breakfast very well too, who has been in touch to say good luck.

“Obviously I’m in the business of trying to steal their viewers, I guess that goes without saying, but they’re all great people who I know and get on with well, so it will be good-spirited.

“I haven’t heard from Phil and Holly but I’m sure they will be in touch. I wish them well but my focus now is on GB News and taking ITV viewers with me on a new journey.”

HuffPost UK has contacted representatives for both Holly and Phillip and is awaiting responses.

Eamonn began presenting This Morning in 2006, alongside Ruth, who had already been part of the ITV show’s on-air team since 1999.

Following Eamonn’s exit, ITV said in a statement: “We would like to wish Eamonn all of the very best in his new role. As a duo, Eamonn and Ruth have been part of the This Morning presenting team for the last 15 years and we thank Eamonn for all of his hard work and contribution to the show.

“Ruth remains an important part of ITV Daytime both as a continuing member of the This Morning family and as an anchor presenter on Loose Women.”

Phillip Schofield’s Dyslexia Jibe During Matt Hancock Interview Sparks Hundreds Of Ofcom Complaints

Last week, Phil and his regular co-host Holly Willoughby interviewed the former health secretary about his campaign calling for children to be screened for dyslexia – a condition Hancock was diagnosed with during his time at university – before they start secondary school.

During the interview, the presenter couldn’t resist a dig at the scandal Hancock found himself in over the summer, commenting: “Was it your dyslexia that meant you misread the social distancing rules?”

It’s since been reported by Metro that a total of 626 people complained to media watchdog Ofcom about the remark.

As is standard procedure, Ofcom will assess these complaints before deciding whether to launch an investigation.

ITV had no comment on the matter when contacted by HuffPost UK last week.

Matt Hancock resigned from his position as health secretary in June, after photos of him kissing his aide were published in the media.

“And those of us who make these rules have got to stick by them, and that’s why I’ve got to resign.”

Alison Hammond Reveals How Her Lady Gaga Interview Got Off To A Bit Of An Awkward Start

Alison Hammond has admitted things got off to a slightly awkward start when she sat down to interview Lady Gaga earlier this week.

Gaga is currently in town to promote her new film House Of Gucci, and while promoting the film, she spoke with the This Morning legend for a new TV interview.

At the beginning of Friday’s live show, Alison told co-presenter Dermot O’Leary: “I had the best week. Yesterday, I met… wait for it… Lady Gaga.”

This Morning then showed a brief teaser of Alison meeting the Oscar-winning star, with the presenter initially offering Gaga her elbow when they first met, and the singer stating: “I’d love to hug you.”

“I’d love to hug you too,” Alison replied, with Gaga eventually deciding to go in for a full embrace.

“Oh my god, I got a hug!” the former Big Brother star then exclaimed. “How are you darling? So lovely to meet you. You look beautiful.”

Back in the studio, Alison said of the miscommunication: “I was really shocked because obviously we’d all been tested, and I didn’t know she was going to go in for a hug! I was giving her the elbow!”

Alison admitted she hadn't been expecting Gaga to go in for a full hug

“Especially with the Americans, you just think ‘go with the elbow’,” Dermot said, before pointing out the interview took place in the same spot as Alison’s infamous sit-down with Harrison Ford.

“It’s interesting you say that, because that is the Harrison Ford room,” Alison told him. “It’s the Corinthia hotel, and that’s where mainly all the interviews happen. So yes, it’s that same room.”

“So, what’s the deal? Do you have some kind of suite there? Do you live there?” Dermot joked.

Alison then explained: “Well, because This Morning is so exclusive, we have our own room, with our own camera man, and our own sound.

“We did have a phone call halfway through saying ‘what time are you checking out?’ or something. [I said], ‘I’ve got Lady Gaga here if you don’t mind, we’re staying here a little bit longer. See ya later’.”

She thealso revealed she’d been given of a taste of “exactly what it would be like to be Lady Gaga”, and showed a second clip of herself outside the venue in full Gaga-esque attire.

“I went out on the streets and everyone was shouting my name!” she said.

“They were loving it! Look at me! It was like Lady Haha. And then I nearly fell over. But yeah, it was amazing.”

Alison’s full interview with Lady Gaga will be shown on This Morning next week.

In the lead-up to her new film’s release, Gaga has already given several interviews, and recently told Vogue magazine that she “suffered psychological difficulties” after trying to stay in character as Patrizia Reggiani for nine months, both on and off camera.

This Morning airs every weekday from 10am on ITV.

Eamonn Holmes Presses Sex/Life Author For The Truth About *That* Shower Scene

Anyone who has seen Sex/Life seems to have one big question after watching it, and it seems Eamonn Holmes is no different.

The This Morning host pressed the author behind the hit Netflix series for the truth about *that* moment from episode three, as BB Easton appeared on the ITV daytime show on Wednesday.

Sex/Life the tells the story of a married woman called Billie who fantasises about the wild sex life she used to have with her ex-boyfriend Brad, and is based on BB’s self-published book 44 Chapters About 4 Men inspired by her own life experiences.

The third episode features a gasp-inducing full-frontal scene whereby Billie’s husband Cooper cops an eyeful of his love rival’s (rather large) appendage in the gym showers.

Addressing the moment during the interview, Eamonn was keen to know if it really belonged to actor Adam Demos.

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes interviewed BB Easton on This Morning

He began: “There’s a lot of the country who have seen an extract from the Netflix series because we have a terrestrial show called Gogglebox here and it reviews programmes and it showed a clip of a man in a shower and honestly it frightened everybody who looked at it, really.

“And I looked at this and I thought ’that is an actor who wasn’t hired for his acting ability and obviously for the size of his appendage, really, which was scary.”

Eamonn’s wife and co-host Ruth Langsford agreed, admitting it was “quite large”.

“Did he exist?” Eamonn asked, before BB asked him to clarify whether he was asking if the character was one of her exes or if the actor “really possessed that”.

Eamonn replied: “It looked to me as if he really possessed it.”

BB then said: “I will neither confirm nor deny what you saw in episode three because, for selfish reasons, I am enjoying the speculation so much – the TikTok viral videos, Gogglebox – so I’m going to keep this going for myself because it’s been a lot of fun to watch everybody.”

“Good for you,” Ruth said.

That Sex/Life shower scene has got the whole internet talking

Sex/Life showrunner Stacy Rukeyser recently weighed in on speculation that Adam used a body double or a prosthetic for the scene that has got the whole internet talking.

She told Collider: “That’s not a body double. I mean, people usually ask is it real or is it a prosthetic?

“And I can tell you what Adam Demos says about it, which is, a gentleman never tells. So, we are leaving that up to the viewer’s imagination.”

Adam himself told Entertainment Weekly of the scene: “I was okay with it because you read the script and know what you’re getting yourself into from the start, so I don’t think you would sign on to a show after reading the scripts and then say no last minute.

“That doesn’t mean you can’t have discussions about comfort level, which they allowed us to have – and with the intimacy coordinator, so it felt a lot safer.”

Sex/Life is available to stream on Netflix now. This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.

Surprise Stripping And Watermelon Crushing: Has This Morning Just Aired Its Strangest Show Ever?

Over the years, This Morning has been responsible for more weird and wonderful moments than we could possibly begin to count, but Tuesday’s instalment was definitely up there aas one of the most random ever.

During the show, presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield led a discussion with three members of the stripping troupe the Dreamboys about how the government’s delay to easing coronavirus restrictions.

However, things took a bit of a turn when performer Zac Smith decided to seize the opportunity of being on telly to show off his *ahem* talents.

“Hold on a second,” he told Holly and Phil, as they tried to wrap up the interview. “I’ve been in a cage for a year, and I’m sure I won’t have any objections if I just let my hair down a little bit.”

“Feel free,” Holly then urged him, at which point he ripped open his shirt and declared: “With all due respect, this is what a Dreamboy is.”

Bringing his point home, he then leapt into a backflip, while his fellow dancers applauded via video-link on the screen behind him.

ITV

Believe it or not, things only got stranger from this point on.

Believe it or not, things then got even more surreal later in the episode, when Holly and Phil threw it back to 2015, when Olga Liashchuk broke the world record for crushing three watermelons between her thighs in under 15 seconds live on This Morning.

The duo then introduced Emmajane Smith, who said she wanted to break Olga’s record six years on.

“What I love about it is that it’s something everyone can relate to,” Emmajane explained. “It’s a great way to show everyone how strong women can be. And everyone knows what a watermelon is, so…”

Although Guinness officials weren’t able to be present for Emmajane’s attempt due to Covid restrictions, she appeared to smash Olga’s record with almost two seconds to spare.

The fact the whole thing was accompanied by the sound of what appeared to be construction work as Emmajane sat on the pavement outside Television Center crushing watermelons with her thighs only added to the strangeness.

We know This Morning is famous for its wacky segments, but we really think there might be something in the water at the moment, as the week started with Phil frightening Holly with some class of haunted doll.

In Monday’s show, Phil presented his co-host with an old doll, telling her: “This is allegedly absolutely rabid with spirits and ghosts.”

“And you thought you’d bring this… why?” Holly questioned, shifting even further away than the current two-metre requirement.

Oh, This Morning. Please never change.

Miriam Margolyes Talking About Her Past Sex Tapes Is Even More Outrageous Than You Think

An appearance from Miriam Margolyes on This Morning usually means something outrageous is afoot, and we’re pleased to say she didn’t let us down during Thursday’s show.

Throughout her interview with presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Miriam made it clear that she was deliberately acting on her best behaviour, while she promoted the new family film H Is For Happiness.

“What’s happened to you and where is Miriam Margolyes?” Phillip joked early on, to which the former Harry Potter star responded: “Well, bursting to get out, actually.”

As it turned out, it didn’t take long, and when the conversation turned to the actor’s past voiceover work, the Miriam we know and love soon crept out.

ITV

Miriam Margolyes speaking from her home in Tuscany

When asked how she’s been whiling away her hours during lockdown in Tuscany, Miriam explained: “I’m doing voice work. I’ve got a little studio rigged up in the back stable, out of five Ikea curtain rails and five Ikea duvets, and I’m crouching under the duvet and doing Wallace And Gromit, so I’ve got something on my mind.”

She then disclosed that she can currently be heard in an ad for “a haemorrhoid suppository”, at which point Phillip asked about her past work with Cadbury.

“I was the original Cadbury Caramel bunny,” Miriam recalled. “I remember they kept saying ‘make it sexier’, ‘make it sexier’. And, you know, first thing in the morning, it’s not what’s on your mind, really.”

A mischievous Phillip then asked: “Didn’t you possibly get that job out of a couple of other tapes that you might have done before that were slightly less family orientated?”

“I thought I was supposed to very careful this morning on this show, your chap told me, now don’t say anything nasty,” Miriam claimed, with Holly joking that her co-host was “poking you with a big stick” and trying to lead her astray.

ITV

As always, Miriam had the This Morning team howling with her revelations.

It didn’t take much for her to spill the beans, though, with Miriam then declaring: “I did a couple of sex tapes. Sexy Sonia: Leaves From My Schoolgirl Diary, that was one of them.

“But I have to stress, they were audio tapes. They were not visual. And they were very exhausting, because when you’re simulating orgasm, as all of you out there know, it’s tiring, and you get a headache. It’s not a question of having a headache at the beginning, you get a headache at the end.

“So I haven’t done them again. I did the Cadbury bunny instead, and made a lot more money – because I only got paid £300 in those days.”

“It was at the Ann Summers sex shop,” she told the pair. “I expect you know it well. That’s where I auditioned.”

Oh, Miriam. Please never change.

This Morning airs every weekday from 10am on ITV.

ITV Daytime Viewers Suspect Ant And Dec Are Behind Some Very Odd Moments On Lorraine And This Morning

ITV viewers suspected something might have been amiss on Monday morning, after noticing a number of daytime stars were behaving a little strangely.

Lorraine Kelly was the first to spark suspicion when she interviewed YouTuber and musician KSI live on air.

Fans picked up on the fact Lorraine was not exactly being her usual professional self, complaining of cramp in her leg which she then attempted to “walk off” in the middle of the interview and blatantly yawning while he was talking.

Lorraine then signed off the interview with a “love you”, after thanking him for “putting up” with her.

Things were similarly unusual during a segment on the episode of This Morning that followed, in which Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby chatted with resident chef James Martin.

The strangeness began when Holly told James she could only eat mussels “at night… when it’s quite dark”, at which point the studio lights were lowered for her, so she could tuck in.

Later in the demonstration, James told the pair some background on mussels, with Holly loudly interrupting: “Don’t tell me that! I don’t need to know any personal information about what I’m eating. I was doing so well!”

James returned for another cooking demo towards the end of the show, which ended up being even more chaotic.

ITV

Things took a very bizarre turn on Monday’s This Morning.

The pair repeatedly interrupted James’ explanations to talk and laugh amongst themselves, with the TV chef attempting to get his demo back on track.

Like Lorraine, Holly then suggested she had cramp, getting up and walking around the studio while James continued to make choux pastry in the This Morning kitchen.

James then told the duo to put almonds on top of their pastry, to which Holly responded that he shouldn’t “tell her what to do” and she can use any other type of nut she so wishes.

ITV

James looked rather unimpressed when Holly told him not to “tell me what to do”

“I’m not being rude,” Holly said afterwards. “But it does taste better than it looks.”

Viewers eventually grew suspicious that Ant and Dec might be behind the scenes in question, as part of their recurring I’m A Celebrity, Get Out Me Ear prank on Saturday Night Takeaway.

In fact, Ant and Dec’s names even began trending on Twitter as so many people pointed the finger at the pair…

Saturday Night Takeaway returned for a brand new series earlier this month, with new measures being put in place due to the pandemic.

This weekend’s show saw the duo reuniting with former SM:TV co-host Cat Deeley for a revival of their parody sitcom Chums.

Lorraine airs every weekday from 9am on ITV, with This Morning following at 10am.
