Cooper Koch Reveals His Initial Reaction To THAT Monsters Episode: ‘I Cried’

Monsters: Menéndez Brothers star Cooper Koch has revealed what his reaction was when producer Ryan Murphy presented the idea for episode five of the Netflix-topping series to him.

The latest season of the TV super-producer’s true crime series Monsters centres around Erik and Lyle Menéndez, who are both serving life sentences for killing their parents in the late 1980s.

At the time, the siblings claimed they were acting in self-defence after years of physical, emotional and sexual abuse, while the prosecution argued that the Menéndez brothers’ motivations were financial.

Episode five – titled ‘The Hurt Man’ – features a 35-minute single shot of Erik (Cooper Koch) sharing the abuse he and his brother Lyle (portrayed by Nicholas Alexander Chavez) allegedly suffered at the hands of their father José and mother Kitty Menéndez prior to killing the couple.

“I cried,” Cooper told Deadline. “Ryan told me that I got the job, and then on the same day, he told me that I was gonna have that episode. And it was always planned to be that way, it was always one scene and one shot, and it didn’t really change. The script didn’t really change at all from the first time that I read it.”

He also shared that he and co-star Ari Graynor, who plays lawyer Leslie Abramson in the series only rehearsed the scene once prior to filming.

He said: “At the end everybody was very moved and everyone was crying, including myself and including Ari. (Director) Michael just looked to us and said,‘I don’t want to touch it. I just want to shoot it.’”

Liam Payne’s Girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, Breaks Silence On His Death

Liam Payne’s girlfriend, Kate Cassidy, is paying solemn tribute to the former One Direction singer two days after his death at age 31.

On Friday, the social media influencer shared an emotional note to her Instagram stories, in which she thanked supporters for “all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way” while requesting privacy as she processed her grief.

“Nothing about the past few days have felt real,” she wrote. “I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”

She ended her note by addressing Payne, her boyfriend of two years, directly.

“Liam, my angel. You are everything,” she wrote. “I want you to know I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will continue to love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”

"I will continue to love you for the rest of my life," Kate Cassidy, right, wrote in a tribute to late pop star Liam Payne.

Payne was found dead Wednesday after falling from the third-floor balcony of a hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Cassidy, a New Jersey native, had recently traveled with Payne to Argentina. On Oct. 2, the couple were spotted at Buenos Aires’ Movistar Arena, where Payne’s former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan was performing.

Just days before Payne’s death, Cassidy confirmed on social media that she’d returned to the U.S., while he stayed behind in Argentina.

“We were supposed to be there for five days — turned into two weeks,” she said in a TikTok video. “And I was just like, ‘I need to go home.’”

Payne and Cassidy were first romantically linked in October 2022. They made their red-carpet debut as a couple at the British Fashion Awards later that year.

The 31-year-old passed away on Wednesday October 16 following a fall from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires. Tributes have poured in from fellow X Factor contestants, celebrities and fans across the globe following the news.

Now, One Direction themselves have addressed the tragic loss.

In a joint statement, they said: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say.

Nick Jonas Flees From Stage After Laser Pointer Aimed At His Head During Prague Concert

Nick Jonas bolted off stage during a Jonas Brothers concert in Prague on Tuesday night after a laser pointer was aimed at his head, causing the show to be stopped for several minutes.

Footage of the incident circulated afterward on social media showing a frightened Jonas running backstage while frantically flashing a “time out” sign with his hands.

A representative for Prague’s O2 Arena confirmed in a statement to Variety on Wednesday that the concert had been delayed and noted that laser pointers are prohibited at the venue.

“We can confirm that the Jonas Brothers’ performance had to be interrupted for several minutes due to the use of a prohibited laser pointer by the person,” the spokesperson said. “The organising service responded to this fact. After a few minutes, the band continued their performance.”

Crowded concert venues have also become the targets of planned violence.

In August, several of Taylor Swift’s shows in Vienna were cancelled when authorities discovered threats of a terrorist attack at the venue. A 19-year-old man with links to ISIS was subsequently arrested for the reported plot, which officials said was intended to kill “tens of thousands.”

The Jonas Brothers will perform again on Wednesday in Krakow, Poland, wrapping up the European leg of their “Five Albums, One Night” tour.

Nightmare Before Christmas’ Director Has Settled The Debate Of Whether It Is A Halloween Film

If you’re from a certain generation, you’ve likely spent the final months of the year in an ongoing debate about whether the 1993 flick The Nightmare Before Christmas counts as a Halloween or Christmas film.

No, you can’t say both.

Unlike most silly debates, there are two healthy points of view here — the film is exploring the themes of Christmas and what it means to families and communties.

However, crucially… It’s set in a place called Halloween Town which is inhabited by traditionally scary creatures that count down to Halloween every year.

However, the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas weighed in on this debate and I’m sorry to all the Christmas fans but you might be disappointed…

If you’ve ever found yourself embroiled in this debate, we have exactly the bit of trivia you need.

When the director was asked whether he considers it to be a Christmas or Halloween film at a 2015 Q&A at Colorado’s Telluride Horror Show film festival, he said: “Oh, boy, it’s a Halloween movie.”

So that’s that. We can debate over other things this festive season, like whether Love Actually is good, actually.

While we’re on the topic of The Nightmare Before Christmas…

It was Henry Sellick that directed the film and not Tim Burton, as many people believe. Tim wrote the story but the direction was all down to Henry, who also directed Coraline.

Speaking about this common misconception in 2022, Henry said: ”[It] was a little unfair because it wasn’t called Tim Burton’s [The Nightmare Before Christmas] until three weeks before the film came out.

“And I would have been fine with that, if that’s what I signed up for. But Tim was in LA making two features while I directed that film.”

Let’s consider the record straight: it’s a Halloween film, directed by Henry Sellick.

Happy Halloween!
