Eurovision Singer Sam Ryder Makes Triumphant Return To The UK After Success At The Contest

Singer-songwriter Sam Ryder has made a jubilant return to the UK after his huge success at Eurovision over the weekend.

Sam represented the UK at this year’s song contest in Turin with his self-penned song Space Man, which finished in second place on the night, also landing the most points of any at this year from the Eurovision juries.

With the contest now over for another year, the musician landed back in the UK on Sunday, where was given a triumphant reception.

He was photographed arriving at Heathrow Airport sporting a pink bucket hat, in recognition of this year’s Eurovision winners, the Ukrainian act Kalush Orchestra, whose song Stefania bagged a hefty 631 points to Sam’s 466 on Saturday night.

Sam was also snapped meeting fans as he was met with balloons, flags and fans asking him for selfies.

Celebrating the result, Sam previously posted on Instagram: “Thank you all for blazing with love, positivity and kindness throughout this wild and euphoric experience. We completely felt your support and we so deeply appreciated it.

“Huge love to @kalush.official for bringing it home for glorious Ukraine!!! COULDN’T BE HAPPIER RIGHT NOW AND I CAN’T WAIT TO HUG MY GRANDAD!!”

In the lead-up to his performance in the final, Sam told HuffPost UK: “Wherever I come on the scoreboard. I’m flying home the next day and I’m going to have a curry with my mum, dad, grandad and nephew, and watch some telly. That’s going to happen no matter what.”

“If we can do well in that regard, and change a certain attitude and try and tear some of that self-perpetuating negativity down, even just a little bit, surely that is the biggest win?” he said. “That’s even more of a win than winning the contest.”

Well, Sam. To you we’d say: mission accomplished.

Drake Hits Back At Troll By Following His Wife And DMing Her On Instagram

The Certified Lover Boy Drake just pulled the ultimate move on an online critic.

The drama-filled interaction started on Tuesday when an Instagram user poked fun at Drake’s son, Adonis, after the rapper commented about fathers who are “elated and competitive and over supportive” of their children’s pursuits. In response, the Instagram user wrote, “Ya son prolly play with ghost writers.”

The snarky comment was in reference to past controversies where the Canadian rapper was accused of relying on ghostwriters and not drafting his own verses.

Drake , who goes by @champagnepapi on the platform, decided to respond in the most Drake way: He swiftly tracked down the commenter’s wife and followed her on Instagram.

“I just followed your girl cause she’s prob miserable and needs some excitement in her life,” he teased.

The woman Drake followed, who goes by Toni Bowden on the social platform, shared the tea on her Instagram Story.

“Oh hey @champagnepapi,” she captioned in a screenshot of her followers, with the God’s Plan rapper listed as one of them.

“My husband @ceddybo_ybagnm decides to be a troll and now @champagnepapi thinking I need excitement in my life,” she wrote, alongside laughing and eyes emojis.

But the debacle didn’t end there.

Drake, who has cautioned his fans in his lyrics over the years about stealing girls away from their boyfriends and husbands, annihilated the original commenter with one final blow by sending Bowden a direct message after seeing her posts.

“I’m here for u ma,” he wrote to her.

The Take Your Girl artist reunited with Future last month for several features on the March Madness rapper’s ninth studio album, I Never Liked You.

This week, Drake was confirmed to appear on Jack Harlow’s new album Come Home the Kids Miss You, which is released today (Fri 6 May).

Dua Lipa Accidentally Throws Her Mic Into The Crowd During Live Show And It Hasn’t Been Seen Since

Dua Lipa suffered the mother of all ‘butterfingers’ moments during a recent show on her Future Nostalgia World Tour when she accidentally tossed her microphone into the crowd.

The singer was belting out her hit New Rules when she lost grip of the mic, which then swiftly disappeared into the audience.

I we mean literally disappeared, because it was never seen again.

In videos shared by fans on social media, the singer can be seen looking out into the audience in a bid to retrieve it, but to no avail.

She was then forced to style it out by busting some moves until a replacement mic was handed to her by one of her dancers.

The Future Nostalgia tour has been postponed several times due to the pandemic, but finally kicked off in Florida last month.

The tour is set to conclude in Perth, Australia in November.

Harry Styles Had A Completely Normal Saturday Afternoon In A Giant Bed Outside Buckingham Palace

As Saturday afternoons go, Harry Styles’ one wasn’t the most usual.

The former One Direction star spent it being wheeled around on a giant bed outside Buckingham Palace, as you do.

Pictures and videos shared on social media show Harry having a tuck-in with two musicians who were holding a guitar and a drum, as they took over The Mall in central London.

The Watermelon Sugar singer was dressed in what appeared to be brown pyjamas with blue polka dots, finishing off the look with a lime green and pink scarf.

It is thought Harry is filming a new music video.

One onlooker, who gave her name as Ana, said it was “so surreal”, telling the PA news agency: “I was just taking a stroll in London and there he was, doing the most Harry thing ever, riding on a bed across the Buckingham Palace.”

It had been rumoured Harry is planning to release new music in 2022, following up on the success of his second album Fine Line, which came out in December 2019.

Joni Mitchell Calls For Spotify To Remove Her Music Amid Row Over Covid Misinformation

Music legend Joni Mitchell has requested that Spotify pull her songs from their service amid a row over Covid misinformation.

The Both Sides Now singer joins fellow musician Neil Young, who successfully had his back catalogue pulled from the platform this week, as it hosts Joe Rogan’s podcast, on which the presenter has previously been accused of spreading false information about coronavirus and the Covid vaccine.

In a message posted on her official website, Joni did not mention Joe Rogan by name, but did state that she “stands with Neil Young”.

“I’ve decided to remove all my music from Spotify,” she explained. “Irresponsible people are spreading lies that are costing people their lives.

“I stand in solidarity with Neil Young and the global scientific and medical communities on this issue.”

Joni also shared an open letter signed by a group of scientists and medical professionals which called out Spotify for continuing to broadcast The Joe Rogan Experience.

Responding to Neil Young’s comments earlier this week, a Spotify rep said: “We want all the world’s music and audio content to be available to Spotify users. With that comes great responsibility in balancing both safety for listeners and freedom for creators.

“We have detailed content policies in place and we’ve removed over 20,000 podcast episodes related to Covid since the start of the pandemic.

“We regret Neil’s decision to remove his music from Spotify, but hope to welcome him back soon”.

The Joe Rogan Experience was acquired by Spotify in 2020, reportedly for more than $100 million dollars (around £77 million).

Adele ‘Overwhelmed’ By The ‘Best Fans In The World’ After Postponing Vegas Residency

Adele says she has been “overwhelmed” by the support of “best fans in the world” after being forced to postpone her Las Vegas residency.

The Easy On Me singer tearfully announced that her show at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace “ain’t ready”, less than 24 hours before she was due to take to the stage for the first time.

After her emotional video addressing the news made headlines across the globe, Adele acknowledged the “graciousness and love” she had been shown in response to the unfortunate decision.

“I have the best fans in the world!” she wrote on social media.

“Your graciousness and love tonight is overwhelming! Thank you.”

Adele previously explained the show was not ready having been “absolutely destroyed” by delivery delays and coronavirus.

“Half my team have Covid and it’s been impossible to finish the show,” she said.

The Weekends With Adele series was announced last November, with the singer scheduled to perform two shows every weekend until April.

Tickets ranged from $85 (£60) to $685 (£500), and Adele was reportedly set to make more than £500,000 per performance.

The residency would have marked the first time Adele had performed live shows in five years.

The 33-year-old singer said she had been “awake for 30 hours” trying to rescue the production, but had simply “run out of time”.

Adele also apologised to fans who had already arrived in Las Vegas for the opening weekend.

“I’m sorry, it’s last minute. I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and I’m so sorry to everyone that’s travelled again.”

The residency is set to be rescheduled, with dates announced in due course.

Encanto’s We Don’t Talk About Bruno Just Gave Disney Its First Ever UK Number One

Disney’s latest film Encanto has officially made chart history, after a song from its soundtrack reached number one in the UK.

Encanto arrived in cinemas towards the end of the last year, and was made available to stream on Disney+ over the Christmas period.

In the weeks since, songs from the film’s soundtrack – written by Hamilton and In The Heights creator Lin-Manuel Miranda – have been slowly climbing up the chart, with We Don’t Talk About Bruno finally hitting number one this week.

The Official Charts Company confirmed on Friday evening that the group song We Don’t Talk About Bruno – performed by Rhenzy Feliz, Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Diane Guerrero, and Carolina Gaitan – is the first ever original Disney song to top the UK singles chart.

Two additional songs from the soundtrack are also in the top 20 this week, with opening number The Family Madrigal at number 15 and Surface Pressure hitting a new peak at number five.

Let It Go was the highest-performing song from the franchise, peaking at number 11 in the UK, with For The First Time In Forever, Do You Want To Build A Snowman? and Into The Known also peaking within the top 40.
