Jack Black Reveals Where Things Stand With Tenacious D Bandmate After Cancelling Tour

Jack Black has insisted he and his Tenacious D bandmate Kyle Gass are still on good terms after abruptly cancelling the remaining dates of their tour last month.

The pair had been on tour in Australia in mid-July, when Jack announced they were pulling the rest of their scheduled performances, following a divisive joke Kyle made about the assassination attempt on former US president Donald Trump.

During one live show, the School Of Rock star presented Kyle with a birthday cake, imploring him to “make a wish”, to which he responded: “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

Jack later said he’d been “blindsided” by his friend and bandmate’s remark, and that they’d be cancelling the remainder of their tour.

Asked about where things now stand between them, the Emmy winner told Variety: “We need to take a break. Everybody needs a break sometime. And we’ll be back.”

He added: “We’re friends. That hasn’t changed. These things take time sometimes… And we’ll be back when it feels right.”

Jack previously told his Instagram followers two days after the incident: “I was blindsided by what was said at the show on Sunday. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form.

“After much reflection, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful to the fans for their support and understanding.”

For the past few years, Tenacious D had been working on a new album, which would be the first since 2018’s Post-Apocalypto.

Jack had previously claimed this would be released later in 2024, though it’s no longer clear whether these plans will be going ahead.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday said he will sit for a “MAJOR INTERVIEW” with billionaire Elon Musk next week as the race for the White House heats up.

“ON MONDAY NIGHT I’LL BE DOING A MAJOR INTERVIEW WITH ELON MUSK — Details to follow!” Trump wrote.

“I am making some donations to America PAC, but at a much lower level and the key values of the PAC are supporting a meritocracy & individual freedom,” he wrote on X, formerly Twitter, in late July. “Republicans are mostly, but not entirely, on the side of merit & freedom.”

Musk was also reportedly one of those who privately pressed Trump to select Senator JD Vance (Republican, Ohio) as his running mate.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, Trump claimed he had an apparent change of heart on electric vehicles because of Musk. Musk is the CEO of Tesla, one of the biggest EV companies in the world.

“I’m for electric cars, I have to be because Elon endorsed me very strongly,” Trump told a rally in Atlanta on Saturday.

‘Say It To My Face’: Kamala Harris Goes After Trump For Dodging Debate Plans

Vice President Kamala Harris said on Tuesday that she hopes former President Donald Trump will meet her on the debate stage later this year despite his apparent efforts to skip out on those plans now that she’s the Democrats’ presumptive nominee to face him in November.

Harris rallied a crowd of 10,000 supporters in Atlanta on Tuesday, her first visit to Georgia after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and cleared the way for her campaign.

“This is a people-powered campaign, in fact … the momentum in this race is shifting, and there are signs that Donald Trump is feeling it,” the vice president said. “You may have noticed.”

Trump has now repeatedly expressed doubt about participating in the next debate, scheduled for September 10 on ABC News.

And while he said on Monday he would “probably” debate Harris at some point, he added that “everybody knows who I am,” suggesting a debate appearance may not benefit him.

In Atlanta, Harris hit the former president for backing out of those plans, repeating her ding that Trump and his running mate, Senator JD Vance of Ohio, were “just plain weird” and had a “lot to say about me.”

“Here’s the funny thing about that,” Harris said. “So he won’t debate, but he and his running mate sure seem to have a lot to say about me.”

“Well, Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage,” she said, “because as the saying goes, if you’ve got something to say, say it to my face.”

Harris has catapulted into the campaign over the past 10 days, raising more than $200 million (£155m) and signing up more than 170,000 volunteers. And recent polls have shown her closing the gap in most swing states.

Sky News Presenter Questions Minister Over Past Anti-Donald Trump Stunt

A new Labour minister was questioned by Trevor Phillips on Sunday over a previous anti-Donald Trump stunt in London.

Before the exchequer’s secretary James Murray was elected to parliament, he was the deputy mayor of London under Sadiq Khan.

He held this role from 2016 to 2019 – meaning he was in office when his boss Khan allowed a six-metre high cartoon baby blimp of the then-US president to float across the capital.

It was part of a wider protest against the divisive politician’s first formal visit to the UK in 2018.

Six years later and Trump, now the official Republican Party nominee, has a chance of returning to the White House.

Phillips recalled the famous blimp on his programme this morning, asking Murray: “Do you now wish you hadn’t chosen to insult him in this way?”

The minister replied: “Look there’s been a lot of history between the mayor and President Trump but what’s important for me is being a minister in the government is that we have a relationship with the US, which is an incredibly strong one, and one that’s in our national interests and good for our national security.”

Phillips hit back: “It’s quite tricky to have a good relationship with somebody when one of your colleague has described him as a neo-Nazi and your former boss called him literally a few weeks, a racist, a sexist and a homophobe.”

The foreign secretary David Lammy called Trump a neo-Nazi in 2018, when he was a backbencher.

Meanwhile, Labour mayor Sadiq Khan criticised Trump and said his party should “call him out” in May this year.

The ex-president previously called the mayor a “stone cold loser” after saying Trump should not visit the UK back in 2019.

“Is that the way diplomacy these days under Labour?” Phillip asked.

Murray said: “In the past there have been comments on all sides of this relationship, but what it’s important for me is the strength of a relationship –”

Phillips cut him off, saying: “The strength of a relationship with someone who called you a neo-Nazi is not going to be very strong, is it?”

He said the UK-US “transcends any individuals”, and “it’s in our interests in terms of national security and economy” to get along well.

Phillips pushed: “You understand why this is an issue, don’t you?”

He noted that Lammy is now calling Trump’s running mate JD Vance is his friend and that chancellor Rachel Reeves is talking about a trade deal with the US.

He said: “You’re all going to have change your tune aren’t you?”

Murray said Labour have “never” changed their tune in their approach to the US, and that it is up to American voters to choose their president.

Mark Zuckerberg Applauds Trump’s ‘Badass’ Response To Assassination Attempt

Mark Zuckerberg has praised former President Donald Trump’s reaction to his attempted assassination at a Pennsylvania rally last weekend.

The Meta CEO ― in a recent interview with Bloomberg’s Emily Chang ― recalled seeing the Republican presidential nominee get up after he was shot before pumping his right fist in the air, moments seen in widely-shared photos from the shooting that killed one rally attendee.

Zuckerberg described the Trump rally scene, which featured an American flag waving in the sky, as “one of the most badass things” he’s seen in his life.

“On some level as an American, it’s like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight, and I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy,” Zuckerberg said.

The Meta CEO, who once criticised Trump over his executive order on immigration back in 2017, hasn’t endorsed the Republican nominee or President Joe Biden as they look to win a second White House term in November.

“I’ve done some stuff personally in the past, I’m not planning on doing that this time,” said Zuckerberg, who noted that he’s not looking to back a presidential candidate in the election.

Zuckerberg’s remarks arrive after fellow multi-billionaire and the richest person in the world Elon Musk endorsed Trump following his assassination attempt.

Musk has reportedly pledged to donate $45 million a month to America PAC, a political action committee working to elect Trump.

Zuckerberg, elsewhere in his interview with Chang, claimed users on Meta’s platforms “actually want” to see less political content and they hope to use the sites to “connect with people.”

Meta’s Instagram announced earlier this year that the platform wouldn’t “proactively recommend” political content from accounts users don’t follow.

“I think you’re going to see our services play less of a role in this election than they have in the past,” Zuckerberg said.

Trump — whose Facebook and Instagram accounts were suspended in the wake of the Jan. 6, 2021 attack before being reinstated last year — has referred to Facebook as the “enemy of the people” and seemingly warned Zuckerberg he’d send him to prison if he were to return to the Oval Office.

Trump, in comments on TikTok, recently told Bloomberg Businessweek that he’s against banning the Chinese-owned platform as “you need competition” before blasting Facebook and Instagram.

“That’s, you know, that’s Zuckerberg,” the former president said.

Biden, too, claimed he’s “never been a big Zuckerberg fan” back in 2020 and referred to the Meta CEO at the time as “a real problem.”

Eyewitness Tells BBC Reporter He Saw Trump Shooter In Extraordinary Interview

A Donald Trump supporter told the BBC how he tried to alert the Secret Service about the man who fired at the former president.

The eyewitness revealed what he had seen during an extraordinary interview broadcast live on TV.

The man, known only as Greg, said he saw the man – who has been named as 20-year-old Matthew Crooks “bear crawling” on the roof of a building while carrying a rifle.

However, he said the Secret Service failed to respond to his warnings in time to prevent the gunman from opening fire.

The former president was shot at as he addressed a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear,” Trump posted on his social media site, Truth Social, after receiving hospital treatment.

Wearing a red ‘Trump 2024’ visor, the eyewitness told the BBC’s Gary O’Donoghue: “We all decided, when we hear Trump up there we’re going to walk up through the field, stand by the trees up there in the shade and listen to the rally,” he said.

“We couldn’t see him, but we could hear him. So we walked up and probably [after] five to seven minutes of Trump speaking, we noticed a guy bear crawling up the roof of the building beside us, 50 feet away from us.

“We’re pointing at the guy crawling up the roof. We could clearly see him with a rifle, absolutely. We’re pointing at him, the police are down there running around on the ground.

“We’re like ‘hey man, there’s a guy on the roof with a rifle’ and the police didn’t know what was going on. We’re saying ‘right here on the roof, we can see him from right here, he’s crawling’.

“I’m thinking to myself ‘why is Trump still speaking, why have they not pulled him off the stage?’. I’m standing there pointing at him for two or three minutes. The Secret Service is looking at us from the top of the barn. I’m pointing at that roof, and next thing you know five shots rang out.”

He said the Secret Service officers “probably” could not see the gunman from where they were, but he added: “Why isn’t there Secret Service on all these roofs here? This is not a big place.”

Asked by O’Donoghue what happened next, Greg said: “They blew his head off. Secret Service blew his head off.

“They crawled up on the roof, they pointed their guns at him, they made sure he was dead, and that was it, it was over.”

Prime minister Keir Starmer has said he is “appalled” by the incident, while US president Joe Biden described the attack as “sick”.

‘Deranged’: Critics React To Trump’s ‘Fat Pig’ Rally Rant

In his first campaign rally since the presidential debate, Donald Trump went on a bizarre tangent that left critics disgusted and questioning his fitness for office.

Speaking at his Doral golf club in Florida, the former president was discussing his campaign pledge to tipped workers when he began sharing an anecdote about a waitress he said he met in Nevada.

“A waitress came over, beautiful waitress — and I never liked talking about physical — she’s beautiful inside, because you never talk about a person’s look. Ever,” said Trump, who has called women “fat,” “disgusting” and “unsexy,” among other misogynistic attacks, over the decades.

He then launched into a backhanded attack on former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a Trump ally turned critic who went up against the former president in the presidential primaries.

“The other day, I got very angry,” Trump continued. “Some man called Chris Christie fat. And I said, ‘Sir.’ And then he said he was a pig. I said, ‘Sir! Chris Christie is not a fat pig!’ Please remember he is not a fat pig. Please take it back.”

Trump has previously mocked Christie’s weight.

At a rally in New Hampshire in August, he said Christie was off “eating right now” before pointing into the crowd and saying, “Sir, please do not call him a fat pig.”

Christie, at the time, invited Trump to “say it to my face.”

Trump’s Doral rally contained multiple eyebrow-raising moments where he trailed off, rambled incoherently and blatantly lied.

The Biden campaign called the appearance “deranged.” President Joe Biden has consumed the spotlight since his fumbling debate performance and has faced calls to step aside.

“Imagine if Joe Biden said whatever tf Trump is saying here,” conservative attorney George Conway said on social media of the “fat pig” sidebar.

“Deranged. Utterly unfit for office,” the Republicans Against Trump group posted.

Virgin Islands Delegate Stacey Plaskett wrote, “Somebody anybody in the news!!! Are you going to report on this?!?! Does this sound normal? And this is EVERY TIME HE SPEAKS.”

‘Total Nonsense’ And ‘Pure Fiction’: CNN Fact-Checker Exposes Trump’s False Debate Claims

CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale offered a breathless breakdown of the misleading claims and false statements that former President Donald Trump made during his first 2024 presidential debate with President Joe Biden, which the network hosted in Atlanta on Thursday.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee’s list of false claims is “way, way longer” than the president’s, Dale noted before reeling off and then debunking the many, many falsehoods uttered by Trump.

Dale, during his near-3-minute segment, described Trump’s claim that Biden wants to quadruple people’s taxes as “pure fiction” and said his line about Biden only creating jobs for “illegal immigrants” was “total nonsense.”

CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, who moderated the debate, were criticised for not fact-checking Trump’s false claims in real time for the audience’s benefit.

The network did, however, run a live fact-check on its website.

Per CNN’s analysis, Trump made more than 30 false claims during the head-to-head compared to Biden’s “at least nine false or misleading claims.”

Trump Entertains Bizarre UFC-Like Concept For Migrants: ‘Not The Worst Idea I’ve Ever Had’

Former President Donald Trump backed an idea for a “migrant league” similar to the Ultimate Fighting Championship in remarks to Christian conservatives at a Faith & Freedom Coalition conference on Saturday.

“Why don’t you set up a migrant league of fighters and have your regular league of fighters and then you have the champion of your league, these are the greatest fighters in the world, fight the champion of the migrants,” said Trump, who claimed he pitched the idea to UFC President and CEO Dana White.

He continued, “I think the migrant guy might win, that’s how tough they are.”

The presumptive Republican presidential candidate, who once compared asylum-seekers to UFC fighters in 2019, added that White didn’t like the concept “too much.”

“But actually, it’s not the worst idea I’ve ever had,” said Trump. “These are tough people, these people are tough and they’re nasty, mean.”

White, in remarks to reporters at a UFC event, confirmed Trump shared the idea.

Trump would later bring up his “new migrant fight league” idea again at a rally in Philadelphia.

“You know, these are tough cookies coming into our country, coming with prisons and mental institutions,” he said.

He added that the idea could make White — who has appeared alongside him at multiple UFC events — “a lot of money.”

Sarafina Chitika, a spokesperson for Biden’s re-election campaign, took aim at the former president over his “incoherent, unhinged tirade” on Saturday.

“Fitting that convicted felon Donald Trump spent his time at a religious conference threatening to round up Latinos, bragging about ripping away Americans’ freedoms, and promising to be even more extreme if he regains power,” said Chitika in a statement.

The remarks from Trump arrive amid a campaign where he’s used dehumanizing rhetoric to refer to migrants, who he called “animals” and “not people” at an Ohio rally in March.

He’s pledged to conduct mass deportations of undocumented immigrants should he win in November’s presidential election and remarked that migrants are “poisoning the blood of our country,” too.

Biden has talked of “Biden migrant crime” on the campaign trail, as well, despite studies that show immigrants don’t commit crime at a higher-rate than native-born citizens.
