The 10 Funniest Celebrity Tweets About England’s Euro 2020 Victory Over Ukraine

We think there might be quite a few sore heads today following England’s stunning 4-0 win against Ukraine on Saturday night.

Over 20 million fans – including quite a few famous faces – watched the game on the BBC and many celebrated into the early hours after the Three Lions reached their second consecutive semi-final at a major tournament.

And it didn’t take long for many a celeb to share their (often hilarious) thoughts on England’s latest Euro 2020 win on Twitter…

Two goals from captain Harry Kane and headers from Harry Maguire and Jordan Henderson handed the England side a resounding win at Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Gareth Southgate’s men will now meet Denmark in the last four at Wembley on Wednesday evening.

Either Italy or Spain are waiting for a potential final next weekend.

Martin Kemp Reveals George Michael Got Him Job On EastEnders… On One Condition

Martin Kemp has revealed he had George Michael to thank for bagging the role of Steve Owen on EastEnders.

The Spandau Ballet star played the dodgy businessman between 1998 and 2002, but it only came about because the Wham! singer pulled some strings with one of the show’s producers.

But there was also a condition that George – who was a huge fan of the BBC soap – insisted upon.

During an interview on his ITV show Weekend Best, Martin revealed: “George was such an EastEnders fan. He got me the part, in EastEnders, as Steve Owen. Yeah, he pushed me through the door.

“Then he said to me, ‘One thing I want in return… here’s one of my jumpers, sneak it on one day, you have to wear it in one of the scenes!’”

When Weekend Best guest Shane Richie asked if he actually did it, Martin replied: “Yeah I did yeah, I sneaked it on and put it on for him and he loved it!”

Martin added: “He was a beautiful, beautiful man. I can’t speak highly enough of him.”

Martin’s wife Shirlie, who was Wham!’s backing singer, previously revealed their famous friend used to search their home looking for the soap’s scripts.

Shirlie said: “He was obsessed. He would come round and open drawers, snooping about.”

Gogglebox Stars Sophie And Pete Sandiford Get More Than They Bargained After Calling Boris Johnson’s Mobile

Gogglebox siblings Sophie and Pete Sandiford got the shock of their lives when they called Boris Johnson’s mobile number on this week’s episode of the Channel 4 show.

Last week it was revealed that the PM’s personal number could be found on the bottom of an old press release dating back to when he was MP for Henley and a shadow minister in 2006.

After watching a news report that revealed callers would now get an automated message saying that the phone was switched off, Sophie tried it out for herself.

But she wasn’t prepared when someone actually answered the call.

Cue Sophie hilariously lobbing the phone at her equally panicked  brother.

After hanging up, Sophie blocked the number to prevent being called back – as Pete joked that security service MI5 would soon be knocking on their door.

Twitter was very much amused…

Gogglebox airs on Channel 4 every Friday at 9pm.

Dog Steals Russian Weather Presenter’s Mic And Runs Off In Unbelievable Live Broadcast

They say to never work with animals on live TV – but sometimes they have a way of making themselves known regardless.

Earlier this week, Russian weather presenter Nadezhda Serezhkina was left stunned when a dog interrupted her in the middle of a live broadcast, stealing her microphone and then running off with it.

The Mir 24 presenter was hosting the day’s weather report live from Moscow when the canine intruder jumped up and took her microphone, before bounding down the street with the equipment still in its mouth.

Unfortunately for Nadezhda, the camera remained on her while she was forced to chase after it in a bid to try and get her mic back.

Back in the Mir 24 studio, stoic anchor Elina Dashkueva explained to viewers (per Mediaite): “It looks like we have lost the connection to our correspondent. We will try to connect with her momentarily.”

Fortunately, the story had a happy ending, and later in the show, Nadezhda was able to complete her weather report, with her new pooch pal at her side, no less.

She also showed a close up of the microphone, explaining that aside from a few teeth marks, her equipment had escaped from the incident unscathed.

Friends Star David Schwimmer Teases What’s In Store For Reunion Special

David Schwimmer has teased what fans should expect from the long-awaited Friends reunion special, which is to begin filming in a matter of days.

It was first confirmed back in February 2020 that the cast of Friends would be recording a nostalgic look back at the show for US streaming service HBO Max, but due to the ongoing Covid-19 crisis, filming has been pushed back on a number of occasions.

On Friday night, David – who played Ross Geller in the hit 90s sitcom – made an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, and lifted the lid on what we have to look forward to in the one-off special.

He told the host: “We’re going to be shooting a Friends reunion next week so I’m hopping on a plane this afternoon. I’m gonna see everyone next week for the first time in many years.”

David continued: “There’s nothing scripted. We’re not in character, we’re all ourselves – the real people.

“We are all ourselves, although there is one section of it that I don’t want to give away, but we all read something.”

The actor also confessed that it’s been a long time since he actually sat down and watched Friends, joking: “I should have genned up on old episodes, but I just haven’t been able to bring myself to catch up on the 236 shows.

“I guess I need to watch a lot over the next five days!”

Last month, David revealed that special measures were being taken to ensure that filming went ahead safely in the pandemic.

He explained: “Finally, I mean, we figured out a way to film it safely and there’s going to be a portion of it that we filmed outside because of, you know, for safety protocols.”

David declined to reveal who would be on hosting duties for the unscripted episode, but ruled out Ellen Degeneres and former Friends guest star Billy Crystal.

Back in January, former cast member Lisa Kudrow revealed she’d “already shot a little something” for the special, teasing: “It is not a reboot, it is not like a scripted thing, we are not portraying our characters.

“It is us getting together, which just doesn’t happen and has never happened in front of other people since 2004 when we stopped.”

James Corden Reveals How Close Paul McCartney Came To Pulling The Plug On Carpool Karaoke

Sir Paul McCartney’s viral 2018 Carpool Karaoke appearance came this close to being cancelled by the artist,  James Corden revealed this week.

The legendary Beatle repeatedly “got cold feet” over the project, which was filmed in his native city of Liverpool, England, the Late, Late Show host recalled.

Speaking at PaleyFest LA 2021, James said he sent a heartfelt email to Macca, pleading the case for the singer-songwriter’s participation.

The show had already scouted locations, he told Sir Paul, and cancelling at the eleventh hour would cause a big financial hit. He promised the segment would turn out “great”.

Sir Paul apparently wobbled multiple times, and even considered pulling the plug on the morning of the shoot, according to James. Fortunately, the star finally agreed to get back on board when he was told to enjoy himself.

The Carpool Karaoke segment itself saw the pair driving around Liverpool, with Sir Paul visiting someone of his old haunts and singing Penny Lane on, well, Penny Lane, obviously.

James also got misty-eyed when they performed Let It Be together.

After it aired, Sir Paul secured his first chart-topping album as a soloist in the United States and, according to James, texted him to say: “We did it. Thank you for convincing me to do it. I had a blast.”

Miriam Margolyes Talking About Her Past Sex Tapes Is Even More Outrageous Than You Think

An appearance from Miriam Margolyes on This Morning usually means something outrageous is afoot, and we’re pleased to say she didn’t let us down during Thursday’s show.

Throughout her interview with presenters Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby, Miriam made it clear that she was deliberately acting on her best behaviour, while she promoted the new family film H Is For Happiness.

“What’s happened to you and where is Miriam Margolyes?” Phillip joked early on, to which the former Harry Potter star responded: “Well, bursting to get out, actually.”

As it turned out, it didn’t take long, and when the conversation turned to the actor’s past voiceover work, the Miriam we know and love soon crept out.

ITV

Miriam Margolyes speaking from her home in Tuscany

When asked how she’s been whiling away her hours during lockdown in Tuscany, Miriam explained: “I’m doing voice work. I’ve got a little studio rigged up in the back stable, out of five Ikea curtain rails and five Ikea duvets, and I’m crouching under the duvet and doing Wallace And Gromit, so I’ve got something on my mind.”

She then disclosed that she can currently be heard in an ad for “a haemorrhoid suppository”, at which point Phillip asked about her past work with Cadbury.

“I was the original Cadbury Caramel bunny,” Miriam recalled. “I remember they kept saying ‘make it sexier’, ‘make it sexier’. And, you know, first thing in the morning, it’s not what’s on your mind, really.”

A mischievous Phillip then asked: “Didn’t you possibly get that job out of a couple of other tapes that you might have done before that were slightly less family orientated?”

“I thought I was supposed to very careful this morning on this show, your chap told me, now don’t say anything nasty,” Miriam claimed, with Holly joking that her co-host was “poking you with a big stick” and trying to lead her astray.

ITV

As always, Miriam had the This Morning team howling with her revelations.

It didn’t take much for her to spill the beans, though, with Miriam then declaring: “I did a couple of sex tapes. Sexy Sonia: Leaves From My Schoolgirl Diary, that was one of them.

“But I have to stress, they were audio tapes. They were not visual. And they were very exhausting, because when you’re simulating orgasm, as all of you out there know, it’s tiring, and you get a headache. It’s not a question of having a headache at the beginning, you get a headache at the end.

“So I haven’t done them again. I did the Cadbury bunny instead, and made a lot more money – because I only got paid £300 in those days.”

“It was at the Ann Summers sex shop,” she told the pair. “I expect you know it well. That’s where I auditioned.”

Oh, Miriam. Please never change.

This Morning airs every weekday from 10am on ITV.

The Cast Of Gogglebox Reacting To Naked Attraction Was Obviously A Match Made In Comedy Heaven

Seeing the cast of Gogglebox’s take on the past seven days of telly has been the highlight of our week for some time now, so when we saw that they’d be tackling one of Naked Attraction’s most iconic episodes ever, we knew we were in for a treat.

During Friday night’s show, the Goggleboxers sat down in their respective homes to watch a classic Naked Attraction episode that had aired on Channel 4 earlier in the week.

Things got off to a promising start, with long-serving cast member Stephen keeping his fingers crossed for “willies”, and Shirley declaring she “wouldn’t want to show my fanny to everyone, love”.

The episode in question introduced 57-year-old Judith, a church-going woman who decided that after surviving breast cancer and caring for her elderly mother, she deserved a bit of a treat.

“Who does she want to meet at 57?” Shirley questioned, to which her husband Dave suggested: “Someone half-tidy, I expect. With a big knob.”

Fan favourites Jenny and Lee were engrossed from the beginning, with the former declaring: “Let’s see what she’s got on offer.”

However, there was no preparing for some of the lines Judith would end up coming out with as she whittled down her prospective dates, including her suggestiion she’s happy with anything from “eight to 11 inches” and the immortal line: “God what a c**k!”

And pretty much everyone was speechless as the iconic Shirley performed a rendition of The Lord Is My Shepherd, accompanying herself on the keyboard, while her prospective dates swayed nude in the background.

As Louis Michael put it: “Just when you think it can’t get any more surreal, she whips out a piano and puts on a one-woman show. For the penises.”

“We all need a little bit of Judith in us really, don’t we?” Stephen said at the end of the episode.

Frankly, we can not agree more.

Gogglebox airs every Friday night at 9pm on Channel 4.

These Arty Postcards Reveal People’s Lockdown Secrets

If you haven’t worn a bra in months or you enjoy really long baths to escape from your family, you’re in good company.

People have been anonymously sharing their lockdown secrets on postcards as part of an arts project launched by Eleanor Tattersfield, the founder of Marby and Elm print workshop and stationery store in London’s Exmouth Market.

The concept is simple: order a free postcard online and Tattersfield will send you a stamped and addressed postcard “for you to unburden yourself of your lockdown secret”.

She’s sent out 500 postcards to date, and has received 275 replies, ranging from the oh-so-relatable to the fantastically eyebrow-raising.

“I hide bars of chocolate in an old Oxo tin,” one postcard reads. “I am having passionate secret sex with another man’s wife and I love it,” another adds.

Tattersfield shares the postcards on Instagram and says the most prominent themes are food, sex, masturbation, loneliness, breaking the rules, love and the love of lockdown.

“I cannot express the joy and excitement I feel opening my shop in the morning and seeing the pile of previously undisclosed secrets on the doormat,” she says. “To think I get to be the first to read these little pieces of someone’s soul is an immeasurable privilege.

“Their wit, sincerity, creativity and diversity are completely compelling.”

Tattersfield came up with the idea after listening to The Apology Line podcast, which tells the story of an answer machine confession line from the 1980s, where people left weird and bizarre messages.

Her shop has been closed in lockdown and the project enabled her to connect with customers, new and old. The collection presents “a portrait of our extraordinary times”, and she hopes to turn the postcards into a book.

“Many people have said they felt a sense of relief writing out their secret and sending it off, out in the ether,” she says.

“Ultimately, this project shows that age old adage that we’re not alone in our secrets/fears/dilemmas/loneliness and seeing and hearing others are going through the same binds us, and helps us through this period of uncertainty.”

Check out some of the postcards below or follow Marby and Elm on Instagram to see more of the project.
